Rick Baughlum's Bio

Rick Baughlum was born near Topeka, Kansas on Thanksgiving Day, 1952 to Doreen and Richard Baughlum, Sr. He lived an idyllic childhood in rural Kansas, spending most of his free time in the Boy Scouts of America. Fishing and camping were very important to Rick as a child, and he gained a reputation for the knowledge that he acquired about the local wilderness. Tragically, he lost a big toe to gangrene after a camping trip in 1966, when he was injured by an unmarked fox trap and had to hike over 12 miles to receive medical care. Despite his infirmity, he overcame the odds and was honored with the rank of Eagle Scout in 1968. His Service Project included lobbying for local laws to require that trappers mark their equipment and keep it out of high-traffic areas.
After graduating from high school, Rick looked forward to enlisting in the Vietnam war and was crushed to find out that the loss of his big toe disqualified him from military service. Instead, he devoted his energy to supporting returning Veterans while attending The University of Kansas.
Rick decided to combine his love of his state and love of wilderness by applying for a job with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and worked there for over 20 years. He was proud to serve the people of his state.
Rick married Martha Meese in 1985 and they had a short but happy relationship until she died all too soon from Breast Cancer in 1990. She was only 34 years old. Rick has devoted many hours since to raising awareness and donations for Breast Cancer charitable organizations. He has never remarried.
After the loss of his beloved niece in 2007 from the killer substance Promicin, Rick quit his long-time job at the Department of Wildlife and Parks in order to spend all his time and energy informing the citizens of this country about the monstrous enemy we face. Rick promised that he would never rest until Promicin was eradicated and Jordan Collier, the evil mastermind who passed out the deadly substance, was brought to Justice.
